Beltane is the midway point between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. It is a time to celebrate the vibrancy of spring and the anticipation of summer. It is associated with fertility, growth and the abundance of life.
A Celtic Pagan festival still celebrated in Britain today, it honours the renewal of life, new beginnings and the union of the divine masculine and divine feminine. Here are some ways you can celebrate Beltane at home:
Connect with nature by lighting fires (safely) for transformation and to represent the power of the sun. If you can't light a bonfire, light some candles instead.
Maypole dancing is a dance still practiced in Europe, symbolising intertwining energies and the abundance and unity of life.
Make and wear flower crowns to represent growth and vitality, or just decorate your home or altar space with flowers to make it look pretty.
Feast with loved ones or put out offerings to spirits or deities you worship
Spend time in nature to recognise and appreciate the bounty of the land
Handfasting is also popular during Beltane - a Pagan marriage tradition where couples' hands are bound with ribbon or cord to symbolise their commitment and union to one another.
Use the day to celebrate community, honour ancient wisdom and connect with nature in whatever way you see fit.
Book a tarot or rune reading for self-reflection and decision-making!
